Introduction to the types of air pumps suitable for industrial production

There are various types of air pumps applicable in industrial production. The following are some common types and their characteristics:

Piston air pump: It is the most common type of air pump. Through the reciprocating motion of the piston in the cylinder, the gas in the cylinder is compressed and released, thereby generating airflow. It has the advantages of small size, light weight and low noise, but its efficiency is relatively low and its energy consumption is high. Piston air pumps have developed maturely, with stable performance, strong environmental adaptability, long service life, and are easy to achieve a high compression ratio. However, the use of a crankshaft connecting rod mechanism to drive the piston to reciprocate will result in a large pump volume, significant vibration and noise during operation, difficulty in achieving high rotational speed, and easy fluctuation in exhaust volume.

Plunger air pump: It is a highly efficient air pump, with an efficiency much higher than that of piston air pumps. However, due to its complex structure, it is relatively large in size. Its operation process is stable, the flow uniformity is good, and the working noise is low. However, the piston is arranged radially, which will cause the overall radial dimension of the air pump to be large, the structure to be complex, and the cost to be high.

Vane air pump: It is a new type of air pump, featuring a simple structure, small size and high efficiency. However, it is relatively noisy and has a short service life.

Screw air pump: It is a highly efficient and energy-saving air pump, suitable for high-speed rotating applications. It utilizes the mutual meshing of the male and female screw rotors to continuously reduce the volume between the teeth and increase the gas pressure, thereby continuously generating compressed air. Screw air pumps belong to positive displacement compressors. They provide stable gas supply, but have a complex structure and are relatively expensive.

Scroll air pumps: They have developed rapidly over the past decade and have become a new highlight in the development of compressor technology. It is small in size, high in efficiency and stable in operation. It has received increasing attention and has great application prospects in small compressors. The scroll compressor is mainly composed of the static scroll plate and the moving scroll plate, cross slip rings, main shaft, frame and other main components. The scroll bodies or scroll rings of the static scroll plate and the moving scroll plate are generally composed of uniform and identical involute profiles, installed facing each other, and the phase miss is 180°. When the scroll compressor is in operation, the moving scroll disk performs planar circular motion under the drive of the main shaft and the phase retention of the anti-self-rotation mechanism. A pair of working chambers complete one suction, compression and exhaust process.

High-pressure air pump: It is a pump with dual functions of blowing and suction, low noise, high efficiency, maintenance-free and high performance, suitable for various industrial needs. Its special blade design features high pressure, large air volume, low noise and high temperature resistance. The high-pressure air pump is a dual-purpose vortex air pump for both blowing and suction. The impeller edge is equipped with multiple blades. When the impeller rotates, due to the centrifugal force, the air between two blades is rapidly moved towards the outer edge, transmitting energy. The wind pressure is rapidly superimposed, thus forming high pressure or high suction force.
